ST RITA MIDDLE SCHOOL SERVICE PROGRAM
The St. Rita School Mission Statement stresses
service. As a school family we are expected to serve each other and the broader community. Parents are required to do service
hours, as well as the 6th, 7th and 8th graders. (Each lower grade does a service project as a class.)
Each Middle School
student is required to do a minimum of 10 hours of service. Last year some students waited until the end of the year and failed
to complete the requirement.
This year students are required to do 2 hours of service during each report card period.
A student may do more per reporting period, but the religion participation grade will be cut if the requirements are not met.
Our goal is to teach students to think and to care about others as modeled by Christ in the Gospels, to share their
gifts and talents, to appreciate what we have and to receive the joy that comes in giving without expecting anything in return.
The teachers will explore service ideas with the students.
Any middle school student who did volunteer
service during the summer may count these hours. A letter with the type of service, the total number of hours and the signature
of the supervisor is required.
Let each of us make a difference in our world.
SERVICE HOUR POINTS WILL
BE ADDED TO THE RELIGION GRADE EACH REPORTING PERIOD . 2 Service Hours FOR EACH REPORT
CARD PERIOD THIS SERVICE REQUIRED AND NOT OPTIONAL.
